How to think about the trade-offs

The honest version of this comparison is that every option trades cost against effort against reliability. DIY guides get you the cheapest entry point into an actual water-generating system, but you're on the hook for sourcing parts and assembly, and your output is capped by ambient humidity — great in the Southeast, weaker in the Southwest.

Commercial atmospheric water generators like Watergen's Genny remove the build effort entirely, but the equipment cost is significantly higher and daily output on home units is modest — closer to drinking-water top-up than whole-household supply.
